Take a deep breath. Exhale. Repeat as needed. Now let us take you on a journey through an unconventional paradise. We speak of a luxury resort nestled in the quaint coastal region of Cha-am. Surrounded by palm trees, lush vegetation and a private beach, So Sofitel Hua Hin is where design, art and fashion blends with comfort and nature effortlessly.
It’s all in the story
The story behind So Sofitel Hua Hin is hidden and reflected within the brand emblem – a butterfly. Each element of the logo plays its part and tells a short story.
The wings speak about the inspiration and characteristics of the designer – Khun Polpat Asavaprapha. The central circle is the sun and the moon, which signifies time and how it is irrelevant when staying at the resort. The butterfly itself symbolizes how guests come as a cocoon or a shell and leave as butterfly, rejuvenated and energetic. There is also a hidden component in the logo. A King chess piece. Do you see it? This basically links back to the history of Hua Hin as a royal destination.
As soon as you enter the premises of the resort, you are whisked away on a fairy tale. You’ll notice wordings around the resort saying “an imaginative escape” and that is exactly what it is. First you see a giant rabbit holding a watch – much like the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland. He is the time keeper. You leave time behind with them so you can enjoy your stay without stress or worry.
Take a step further and you begin to see how nature blends with modern architecture and design. The beautiful white marble steps are not just Instagram-worthy, it has a unique history and significance here.
Go upstairs and you’re greeted by a set of friendly smiles to welcome you to the resort. While waiting to check-in you can’t help but soak in the fresh smell of the sea, beautiful landscape and whispering sounds of nature.
Luxurious yet accessible ambiance
You know how sometimes luxurious can be so over the top that it becomes pretentious? Well at So Sofitel Hua Hin, you never feel that way. The resort can be best defined as chic, modern and sophisticated but with elements of nature it is fairly accessible at the same time. You feel at one with nature but still connected to modern life. It’s exactly what we like so it was a perfect place for us.
You will find hints of nature, art and fashion throughout the property. It’s a tease to your imagination because you can craft your own stories behind everything you see, smell and feel. For example, there are figurines of animals everywhere. You will encounter lizards, alligator, leopard, elephants and plenty of rabbits. Perhaps they are the white rabbit’s family making sure you have left time behind and are having a good time.
There are a total of 77 rooms at So Hua Hin and they come come in two design styles – So Arty and So Nature. Of course. We got the So Arty room on the 1st floor. Here are some of the art and fashion aspects of the room.
A beautiful and colorful backboard behind the bed and a gorgeous painting on the wall.
See those colorful boxes? Those are attached kids room and there are a total of 5 of them at the resort. Each a different color and theme from the outside and inside. We didn’t get to see them though since they were all booked.
Even the toilets are designed to fit the theme of the brand. This was the Men’s toilet next to one of the restaurant. The mirror is part of the sunglasses! Very creative and quirky. We love it!
3 Pools and 1 more to come
There are three pools at So Sofitel Hua Hin. One is for adults only where they can relax, read a book or swim.
Right next to the pool is an art gallery, the gym and spa – everything that adults need in the one area.

The second swimming pool is a bit further into the resort, much larger and open to everyone. Naturally it is a bit noisier here as kids play in the pool and at the garden nearby.
The third pool is a tiny one that is rarely used but good for a dip when having a beer or cocktail at the beach society bar.
In the near future, there is going to be a fourth but massive swimming pool while the resort is currently being expanded. They will also add another 30 to 40 rooms. It should be an even more exciting time to stay here.
The beach area is a wonderful place to spend the day or evening. It’s not a massive resort but spacious enough so getting around is easy.
The tide was quite high here but luckily they have their own private sandy beach section with sun loungers and sofas. It’s perfect for sunbathing, lounging with a drink in hand or simply relaxing to the sound of the waves.
Overall, the resort is quite family-friendly, ideal for couples and even caters to a group of young adults looking for a good time with beach parties and other exciting events.

3 things we LOVED about So Sofitel Hua Hin
Attention to detail and service
Take your time to notice the details in the design and functionality of the resort. Some are obvious while others are hidden. They take exceptional care and effort to illustrate the brand story in all aspects.
Also, every Friday, the management team have a cocktail hour where they invite guests to come snack and drink with them at the Hi-So bar. This is something we really enjoyed because many resorts don’t focus on this. It’s a brilliant customer service practice.
Culinary Experiences
The food. Oh the food! This deserves an entirely different post but all we can say is that each dish we tried was refreshing and innovative. Their twist on authentic dishes gives new meaning to fusion cuisine. They have 3 restaurants/bars. White oven, beach society and Hi-So.

Lifestyle-oriented
Sometimes when we stay at hotels or resorts, we feel bored. Especially at a place like Hua Hin, where there is not much to do, So Sofitel Hua Hin finds a way to keep you preoccupied. Whether it is with parties, management cocktail networking, entertainment events, food escapes and even sporting activities, there is always something to do here. We absolutely love it when a place is lifestyle-oriented rather than just focusing on one or two elements.

Is there any kids playroom? Or any specific family oriented facilities or services?
Hey Eddie, actually there is a garden for kids to play at. I didn’t see a playroom but I think there is one. Also there are 5 rooms that have attached kids room that is designed very playfully. You can actually see that room in the pictures on our post (but we didn’t get to see the inside of it). Do you see the colorful box? That is a kids room with bunk beds and all.
Hi Shayan. How far is it from Bangkok though .
Hey Richa, it’s about 2.5 hours to the South, SouthWest of Bangkok.
