It seems that the Thailand music scene is getting better each year. We couldn’t be happier about this. We recently went to Pattaya for Warp Festival and are extremely excited for Paradise Island Festival in Koh Samui next year. But till then, we are really looking forward to an awesome music event – LUSH Music Festival in Bangkok.
And trust us, Bangkok lags behind other provinces when it comes to good music events. They try but most tend to fail in deliverying a unique experience.
This is where we believe that the Lush Music Festival will blow away other Bangkok events.
Here are reasons why we are really excited about Lush Music Festival
Massive in size
We don’t mean that it is massive in venue. It’s actually going to be held at the Pullman Grande Sukhumvit Hotel but not just in one floor or room. It’s going to be held in the ENTIRE hotel. There are 7 areas announced across 5 floors – from the ballroom and reception hall to a rooftop area and even the service areas.
I mean that is incredible!
It’s not always about the lineup
Although there will be over 40 DJs, live bands and MCs at the next event, it’s not about the single or couple of headliners. All the acts and talents have a role to play to make sure the whole event is an enjoyable experience. Many people go to events only when they know the lineup but here it is so much more than that.
The event is also going to showcase laser lightshows, art exhibitions, markets and even a rooftop golf range.
Variety of music genre
Most music events in Bangkok revolve around EDM or there are concerts for rock bands or pop artists. There’s hardly ever an event that serves as a platform for different genre of music in one place. I mean we don’t have Coachella or burning man but hopefully this will come close to it in terms of music experiences.
There’s Hiphop (our favorite), pop & disco, techno, house, live bands and of course EDM. Of course we’ll have to check each of them out.
It’s part of a social enterprise
LUSH was initially launched as a purely non-profit event, but as the size of the event grew, the founders found it necessary to turn it into a social enterprise model. This means it aims to raise funds both for profit and donating back to charitable projects.
“A total of 1.5 million Thai Baht have been donated to social and/or environmental projects so far. The latest events managed to raise around 200,000 Thai Baht” says Julien Wallet-Houget, co-founder of LUSH. And the best part of this event is that 30% of all net profits goes to a carefully selected Thai environmental charity project.
Now that is a great cause that we all can get behind because it is more than a festival or a party.
We don’t want to give too much away about this event, more than we have, but we’re surely very excited to attend. It will be interesting to see how it turns out and I am especially concerned how it won’t disturb the guests who are staying there. So stay tuned as we’ll bring you in on how the festival goes. We’re going to cover it on Snapchat, Instagram story and even on the blog.
Sounds like a good festival. I would be at the Rock section
Is there another one coming this year or anytime soon?
