It’s not hard finding Indian food in Bangkok. There are restaurants all over the city with varying styles, ambiance and price range. Recently, a new place opened in the middle of Sukhumvit soi 13 and it’s here to add some masala to the mix.

Chowpati is Bangkok’s newest Indian restaurant that brings the country’s favorite street food dishes and the classics to your table in a comfortable environment.

Huge Menu

Chowpati has a massive menu of Indian and Indian-Chinese food. The menu has a lot of variety and the dishes are divided into South Indian, North Indian, and Indian-Chinese categories. There is even a section for street food appetizers such as chats, samosas, pav bhaji and so on. This is what makes Chowpati such a versatile restaurant.

We ordered about 6 or 7 dishes and a few drinks among the four of us. The bill was around 2000 Baht. That is an average of about 200 Baht per dish or 500 per person.

Not bad, I believe. Obviously it is not street food in India price but hey, it’s downtown Bangkok. You can’t really expect it to be.

As far as the flavors go, it was pretty good. Obviously, we didn’t try everything on the menu but what from what we did have, we would definitely be going back for more.

Pseudo Street Ambiance

While the ambiance of Chowpati feels more like an air-conditioned canteen or food court or even a hawker center, there are elements of street food stalls here.

Chowpati is a clean, comfortable and contemporary street food restaurant

Firstly, you can see the chefs making the dishes, at least the appetizers. Secondly, the food comes in utensils that are often seen at street food stalls.

It also smells like the streets of India with all the onion and garlic being cooked.

Even the staff is very friendly and take your feedback very positively.

Although the experience is in sitting and eating a the restaurant, you can also order the food home.

I’d give this place a 4.5/5. It would have been 5 if the prices were slightly lower or the quantity was larger.
