Koh Samui is known for beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters, a vibrant nightlife and lots of water sports. You may think the island is just for the rich to have a luxurious spa holiday or for young 20-somethings to party the night away. But newlyweds can also have a memorable romantic honeymoon by renting one of the Koh Samui beachfront villas. It is after all where we had our mini-moon. There are a range of beachfront villas to suit your needs for an incredible experience in this tropical paradise.
Why Koh Samui is Awesome for a Honeymoon
Koh Samui has white sand beaches against the blue sea water and a backdrop of palm trees, which makes it perfect for newlyweds who are looking for a retreat. There are a lot of romantic restaurants for fine dining, especially near the beach where they serve some of the finest international and Thai cuisines. If you like seafood and want a delicious treat, Koh Samui won’t disappoint.
The exotic landscape and long stretches of beach are excellent for that early morning stroll to catch the sunrise or just to enjoy the beautiful sunset dinner with a glass of wine. You and your partner can indulge in daily Thai massage and spa treatment that’s so good you won’t want to leave Koh Samui. Depending on the location of your accommodation, you can enjoy your honeymoon without even having to leave your beachfront villa.

Other reasons that make Koh Samui an excellent place for honeymooners is the sunset sailing tour with an on-board buffet dinner. Or why not head to one of the private beaches for a romantic picnic. You can also experience the Full Moon Party on neighboring Koh Phangan, which is a short distance away by ferry.
What to Expect in Koh Samui
Koh Samui has several beaches that are great for water sports. There are also great opportunities for sightseeing such as visiting the Big Buddha temple and secret Buddha garden. Whether you’re looking for an active nightlife or peace and tranquillity, there’s something on this island for you.
If you’re looking for an active nightlife and seeing a cabaret dance, Chaweng beach is the best place to spend your time. There are lots of villas around Chaweng beach within walking distance of the late night bars, and clubs. You’ll be up all night enjoying the party with the crowds. Just be warned that this will probably be a noisy area to stay with all the tourists and late night music. Chaweng beach also offers plenty of water sports during the day to cater for the tourists visiting this part of the island. However, avoid staying near this area if you want a quiet and relaxing honeymoon.
The next beach to check out is Lamai, the second resort town after the party town of Chewang. For more solitude and to get away from the noise, Taling Ngam or Bang Por are excellent places to stay. The first is to the southwest of the island whereas the second is at the northern part of Koh Samui. Several villas and restaurants are available in these quiet and secluded beach areas. If you’re staying in Taling Ngam area, you won’t want to miss the chance to go on Mu Ko Angthong National Marine Park.

You know I’ve been to Koh Samui a couple of times and we’ve just always picked a hotel. Honestly we never thought of a villa but my god these are STUNNING ! Will be looking at Villas for sure now !
If you’re with a group, it just makes more sense to rent a villa. For my brother in law’s birthday, we rented one in Krabi, it was amazing. Had the whole place to ourselves in fact.
These villas are so beautiful! I’ve never been to Koh Samui – partially because I wanted to avoid the party vibe – but it is good to know there’s plenty of peace and tranquility there.
The party vibe is only in some areas. You can totally find peaceful places there especially at these villas or other resorts. If you want a REALLY tranquil beach place in Thailand, try Prachuap Khiri Khan or check out LostLeBlanc’s list of best beaches in Thailand.
