Blue Parrot has been around for a while. Since April of 2017 it seems but we didn’t hear about it till much later. Strangely enough because it is owned by and a neighbor of Revolucion cocktail – a bar we have frequented a many times for the past year or two.
So how was it that Blue Parrot was able to stay hidden from our eyesight? Maybe we should be more aware of our surroundings.
Luckily not long ago, we heard about a special pool party launch at Blue Parrot. It seemed unique, not like all the other pool parties in Bangkok. I mean just check out their launch highlight video. It looks quite chic. Also it was an invitation only event, so that means it wouldn’t be over crowded and the vibe would be more relaxed.
The Event
As we walked in the main entrance, we could see an artist painting a white wall on the side with some graffiti. On the other side was the registration table and welcoming staff.
You can watch the LIVE Wall Graffiti time lapse video on Facebook.
We then had to go through another makeshift entrance that lead on to the event space. Supported by groovy house and rhythm music, the decoration exuded class and sophistication. Everyone was dressed in white. Well almost everyone. The dress code did say “in all white” but I guess not everyone got the memo. Apart from the white, everything was highlighted in blue. A great contrast. Blue and white is also the primary branding colors of Absolut Vodka.
Unlike other pool parties, where it’s usually at a hotel or resort, this one was in a more natural environment and open space. It had more of a garden and picnic vibe with a small pool (think of it as a pond in a park) on the side. It was very cozy and comfortable.
Oh and if you’re wondering (guilty as I also didn’t get it till much later), the pool is shaped like an Absolut bottle! Hence, why they dubbed it the first Absolut Pool. Pretty cool and cute.
The Food & Drinks
We didn’t get to try the food because we were quite full from lunch but we could see other people’s tables and it looked pretty good. I had my eyes on an Angus beef burger and a platter of cheese, bread and cold cuts. For drinks, there were many promotions from single cocktails to bottle packages. Of course Absolut was on the list but also wine and champagne. This Rose bottle seemed light and refreshing for us. Best for the heat and vibe of the event.
Also we would recommend the G&G, a refreshing twist to Gin & Tonic that substitutes the tonic with some grapefruit juice.
Overall, the event was worth going to. It was private, cozy, not overly done and how weekend afternoon-evenings should be spent if you’re not doing anything important.
Would we go back?
Yes, definitely. We’re thinking a weekend brunch by the pool would be ideal.
