Thailand is one of the most visited destinations for several years. The problem is that people visit the same ones over and over again. Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Samui, Phangan, Krabi and so on. We’ve been there too. This year though we plan on expanding the horizon, so to speak. If you are planning to visit Thailand this year, whether for the first time or the 100th time, you might want to consider visiting these less-visited places as we plan to.
Tranquil Koh Mak
Many of our friends have visited Koh Mak and we have heard lots of good things about this island. Tranquil, undeveloped (so far), stunning are just some of the words people describe it as.
Koh Mak is mostly known for its gorgeous beaches and water sports such as kayaking, snorkeling and scuba diving. You’ll also find walking and bike trails. Other than that, go with friends or loved ones to enjoy beautiful sunsets with a cocktail in hand. That’s what we would do.
There are a handful resorts on this island and only a two or three ATMs. Only way to get around is by a few island taxis, motorcycles and bicycles.
We will let you know more about Koh Mak once we make it there. Don’t worry. In the meantime, if you are planning a trip there, check out the Koh Mak Island Guide.
Magnificent Koh Kradan
Koh Kradan is a small island in the Andaman sea near the province of Trang and is one of the most undeveloped islands in Thailand
It is the perfect destination for couples looking for a lazy, serene getaway. Long walks on the beach, cocktails at small reggae bars and snorkeling are just some of the great things we look forward to doing at Koh Kradan.
Here is a detailed guide of how to get to Koh Kradan and other Trang islands if you get there before us.
Mellow Koh Phayam
If you follow Love Andaman on Facebook, you will see that they have been promoting Ranong, a Southern province of Thailand quite a lot lately. In Ranong, lies an island that might not have the most gorgeous beach or sea color but that doesn’t mean it is not a beautiful island.
It was this post by a very famous and successful Thai blogger that really intrigued us to plan a trip to Koh Phayam sometime this year.
We specifically want to go there to stay at the Blue Sky resort, which is simply gorgeous. Kind of like a mini Maldives. Sort of. OK, not really. But still, just look at it!

We’d like to go for its wildlife, laid-back atmosphere and mellow vibes. It’s where you go to escape the chaos of city life and without the over tourism of islands such as Koh Samui or Koh Tao. Like other islands, it’s great for water-based activities such as diving, snorkeling, surfing and even fishing.
Mysterious Sam Phan Bok
The Thais have named it the Grand Canyon of Siam. Why? Well, it remotely looks like it?
The name literally translates to 3,000 holes, which is exactly what you will see if you are lucky enough. If you go during the rainy season, the canyon is completely covered with water as it is part of the Mae Khong river.
This has been on our list since we started blogging but somehow we always pushed it off. It seems this year might not be possible either as we come close to the rainy season.
Oh and FYI there is also the grand canyon of Chiang Mai and the grand canyon of Chonburi.
Let’s hope we get to tick off at least half of these destinations. If you plan on going or have been already, we’d love to hear more about it.
Thank you min ❤❤❤❤
