After spending about 2 days and 1 night in Phrae, we made our way to its neighbor – Nan province of Thailand. Nan is known for its historic buildings, monuments, temples, and national parks.
While we didn’t see any national parks or reserves, we did see a lot of temples. Like a lot. We also visited a few local businesses, workshops, and even a chocolate factory.
Without saying much, here are 30 photos to get you excited about Nan and why you should also think of visiting.
First up, the laidback “downtown” area with lots of temples and museums
Quite possibly the highlight of our trip in Nan province – this gorgeous Buddha image on top of a hill overlooking the city. An amazing relaxing vibe and beautiful panoramic views.
Nature and other random things around Nan
A Bonus Spot!
Although we did not go to this place and only found out about it AFTER our trip (thanks to Instagram), the Kew Muang Mountain High Camp in Nan looks like a very popular spot. It is a seemingly high end and luxurious resort-like place nestled in Du Phong, Santi Suk district of Nan.
I would definitely take a trip back to Nan province just to see this place. Perhaps even stay a night.
As you guys may or may not know, we have a mission to tick off every province of Thailand. Nanis now the 25th province we have visited.
Nan so much more as temples (but TAT thinks foreigners just like Thai love to see all temples). The slow life of Tai Lue and Hmong villages, rivers, mountains and culture are not to be missed. Stop for a coffee next time in Pua.
Sure you are right. For slow travelers, definitely it is a must. However, most tourists aren’t slow travelers and can only see or experience things from a superficial, top layer level. We try to slow down our travels and soak in the lifestyle of the city when we can.
Very beautiful photos guys! Especially the temple and viewpoint with the Buddha statue.
